Analyzing the game (READ ME)

  • Critically analyze a game and to understand how certain mechanics impact a player’s emotion:

My game is supposed to be a never-ending runner that is supposed to challenge people and make them test their patience. How long can they survive as the patterns randomize coming at you with a higher speed? It might start to seem repetitive the more you go into it but also it gets harder. There is also no true reward to this game, the experience itself should be rewarding as you go through and gather points that are shown in the top right corner, also who would want to kill a cute Blob character like that?

  • Understand the social implication of the game setting and to design a ruleset that can deliver a message and make a point about a certain social construct

The ruleset of the game is quite simple yet effective. It does not require much from the player which makes it accessible to almost everyone to play and have the experience, yet it tests their patience and makes the player wonder if there's actually an end to it and if there is something beyond the 3 lives they have.

  • Use ideas from other expressive mediums and embed elements from different disciplines into their games in order to produce more original final products.

The idea of a never-ending game that might infuriate people and make them lose their patience with it came from the game "Getting over it" and also many other climbers that are infinite. There's no real achievement in the game other than satisfying your own Ego that you can climb or in this case gather more points than per se last time you played it.

  • Be able to justify their design choices and track their inspirations across the development of a game experience

The design choices were made intentionally making the game look like a nostalgic old flash game which is quite simplistic yet reminiscent of the graphically simple gaming times. Also, it makes the player not overwhelmed with all the visual information and lets them focus on the main purpose of the game. The Blob is white as an innocent small creature that floats on in what seems like never-ending bottomless pits of foggy mountains. And the red enemy spikes the "obstacles" are trying to stop Blob from going further and maybe reaching the way out of the foggy path.
